Our Heritage, Our Neighbourhood

Every story shared becomes part of a living, connected heritage record.

Activated back into the neighbourhoods, spaces and communities it came from. Start with a story, or explore what is already around you.

Heritage Trails

Walk the trail. Discover the place. Add your story.

Use the existing NHB heritage trail as the route and content backbone. HFEE adds a participatory layer on the map — landmark check-ins, community stories, and new memories linked to specific stops.

Why Healthy 365? Healthy 365 already supports goal tracking, challenges and health rewards. The prototype therefore treats heritage-trail participation as a potential challenge / rewards integration, rather than claiming that this partnership is already live. Source: HealthHub / Healthy 365.

Prototype logic / future state
Internal: Contribute is organised around two participation modes: Heritage Tasks and Volunteering. Heritage Tasks provide quick, low-barrier ways to contribute. Volunteering involves taking on a Project Mission — a defined brief with a clear output — through either the general track or, for ages 15–35, the Youth Track signature programmes. Larger-scale community initiatives can progress towards the Heritage Grants pathway under My Heritage Journey.

The trail names below are drawn from NHB heritage-trail materials. HFEE community-story activity is a proposed layer on top; not every trail is presented as a live integration.

Contribute

Contribute to Our Heritage

There are different ways to contribute — from heritage tasks to deeper volunteering through Project Missions.

Participation architecture
Internal: Contribute has two levels: Heritage Tasks for low-barrier public participation, and Project Missions for deeper volunteering. Existing WOG platforms can power selected tasks; the digital heritage layer provides the pathway into deeper missions.
HERITAGE TASKS · SHORT + STRUCTURED

Quick ways to contribute.

Small activities that anyone can complete, such as confirming information, answering a heritage question or sharing views about a place or project. Where appropriate, these can be delivered through existing platforms such as CrowdTaskSG.

Something bigger than a Mission brief?
Internal: a Project Mission is bounded — a clear brief, a single output, verified by what's submitted. Ideas that involve an ongoing role, a broader community partnership, or funding beyond a single deliverable should be redirected to the Heritage Grants pathway rather than stretched into a Mission. This is also why Community was dropped as a Mission format — it described a scale of work a Mission brief can't cleanly hold. Mapping was folded into Documentation for a simpler reason: geotagging already happens automatically once a story is shared, so it wasn't a distinct deliverable — just Documentation with extra framing.

Concept: OHON adds its community-story layer on top of a Mapbox basemap. The story layer remains owned and managed by OHON.

Walk an existing trail. Discover the stories around it.

NHB heritage trails are an existing heritage asset within Discover. Open a trail to explore its landmarks and the proposed OHON community-story layer.

A public-facing browse structure inspired by Chris Khoo's Singapore Memory research — topics people may naturally use to explore heritage.

Official ICH categories remain available as a second, heritage-specific way to navigate.

For now, stories are shown without a ranked order. In future, discovery could be personalised by browsing history, interests, current location or the area being explored — while also surfacing relevant heritage collections and museum content.
